Based at Ray Owen Reserve Lesmurdie, The Kalamunda and Districts Sportsman club (KDFC) or as we like to call ourselves, The Kalamunda Cougars, play AFL Amateur Football in the Hills area. The club competes in the Perth Football League (WAAFL). We have over 150 playing and social members in our club which make up our 4 teams.
In 2022, we have 3 teams that play in the C1 grade competition. These 3 teams consist of the C1 league and C Reserve seniors, and our 17-20 year olds make up our third team the C1 grade colts. Our club has strong connections within the community and in particular our partnerships with local Junior Football Clubs, Mazenod and the Kalamunda Tigers. By focusing on developing local tlaent, our colts program has been highly successful having won back to back flags in 2020/2021. Our other senior side competes in the E1 grade competition, consisting of past senior players and the clubs youth who do not play Colts. Lastly, we have a women’s team playing in the C2 competition.
Since being founded in the 1970’s, the Kalamunda Cougars have worked hard. Having 1 team almost 50 years ago in the Sunday league competition, we are now one of the power house clubs in the WAAFL competition and the strongest Amateur Football Club in the hills region. Every Saturday from the middle of April to September there are always games of football at Ray Owen. The community are always welcomed and encouraged to come watch the Kalamunda Cougars do battle every week, with the league team starting at 2:30pm.
Over the past 15 years our club has experienced 13 Grand Final appearances throughout the 4 grades and at Ray Owen alone have accommodated for more than 60 different Amateur Football Clubs throughout this time. Having over 300 players, members and fellow community people at a game every Saturday, your business will have heavy exposure throughout the Hills region. The Kalamunda Cougars have been an extremely successful community club over the past 15 years and the 2022 season will be no different.
The Kalamunda Cougars have always been regarded as a large networking club, with many of our events having a successful effect on not only gaining business from members of our club, but also supporting our valued sponsors. Event partnerships with Breast Cancer Foundation, The Heart Kids Foundation WA, Fight MND and the Midland Headspace Foundation, provide exposure for our club and help us give back to our community in the Hills region.
